| Director of Haifa’s first film backs out |
|
Director Ahmad Maki has apologized for not being able to direct the film “Akher Kalam” (Last Words) that Lebanese singer Haifa Wahbi has the leading role in. This new film will mark Haifa’s first cinema acting experience. Young Egyptian actor Ahmad Al Fishawi has been nominated to co-star alongside Haifa.haifa
Maki justified his decline to direct the film is due to the fact that he has a busy schedule since he’ll be a guest on the new movie “Baby Doll Night” with director Adel Adeeb.

| Nancy Ajram Official Website |
|
Nancy was a child prodigy with an innocent sensuality, one that seems to be of her own invention. At the age of (4), signs of artistic sensations appeared on her face every time she heard a song or a tender voice from the TV or radio, or even from her own parents.
At the age of twelve (12), she participated in a TV program called “Noujoum Al Mostakbal”, and she won a golden medal / Tarab category.
Later on she started studying vocal and music theory with the best music teachers in Lebanon. Although she was less than 18 years old, the syndicate of professional artists in Lebanon accepted her as a member because they found her to be an exceptional talent and deserved to be qualified as a professional artist. Nancy launched her first album “ Mouhtagalak” in 1998, then in 2001 she launched her second album “Shil Oyounak Ani”, but the hit was her last album “Ah w Noss” in 2005. In “Oscar video clips” Festival 2003 at Sharam El Sheikh, she won an award as the best Arab singer for the year 2003.
Nancy is addicted to her work; she's a perfectionist who spends hours in the studio.
Nancy is definitely a promising star with an extra ordinary talent. We expect more success day after day for our adorable star.

| Melissa’s Startling Confession |
|
Lebanese heartthrob Melissa made a startling confession to AlJaras Magazine recently. According to Melissa she got married at the age of 17 and had a baby who she named Ahmed and she hasn’t seen her son ever since he was four months old. This marriage occurred in the USA and she left her now ex-husband and so had to leave her child behind. Melissa says she really would like to be reunited with her son but obviously this is difficult. There have been several rumors about Melissa especially after her ex-fiancé publicized intimate photos of the both of them.
For this reason Melissa wanted to silence all the talk and come out with the truth about her long lost son. She also added that she aims to collect more money from her music career so she can travel to the USA, get back her son and bring him back home. I must say that although the confession is shocking it really will get Melissa the sympathy vote with the audience and may even stop the circulating rumors.

| Miriam Fares Disappoints Fans! |
|
Recently I reported that Miriam Fares would be joining Mohammed Hamaki at the Aviation Club in Dubai for a highly anticipated concert. Well to Miriam’s fans disappointment she didn’t show up! On the night of the concert Miriam called and apologized for not attending insinuating that there was a financial dispute between her and the organizers and added that she was also too tired to perform. The concert began with the Dutch singer Mystique and after his performance the announcement that Miriam would not be attending was made.
Then after a huge delay Egyptian singer Mohammed Hamaki took the stage and blew his fans away. The audiences were not happy and it was obvious that the concert was not organized properly. There was supposed to be a press conference with the stars of the concert that morning but that too was canceled at the last moment even though some journalists actually showed up only to be told they had to leave.

| Pepsi producing Arab musical |
|
'Nujoom' will be Haifa Wehbe's film debut
By ALI JAAFAR LONDON -- Pepsi is branching out into the film biz by producing what is set to become the biggest budget Arab musical of all time. "Bahr Al Nujoom," Arabic for sea of stars, features a line-up of some of the biggest names in the Arab pop world, including Lebanese popstress Haifa Wehbe, who makes her feature film debut.
Move is part of Pepsi's attempts to cement its position among Arab youth. Two thirds of the Arab world's population of 200 million people is under the age 30, making it the region's most lucrative demographic. Although filmmakers are keeping the prominence of Pepsi to a minimum, all five pop artists in the film are sponsored by Pepsi, giving the soft drink manufacturer plenty of opportunity for cross-branding and marketing potential.
Although Pepsi has put ample coin into the pic, budgets for Arab pics are rising each year, with rival shingles seeking to outdo each other in production values and scale.
The musical, reputedly costing more than $10 million, tells the story of an entrepreneurial youth who seeks to revive the flagging fortunes of his seaside town by staging a music festival there. Pic ends with a spectacular concert that sees Arab pop stars such as Wael Kfoury, Carole Samaha and Ruweida Al Mahrouqi performing together for the first time.
"With all the musical stars in the film, we have a lot of starpower and we'll be releasing an original soundtrack two months before the release of the film," says producer Nabil Issa.
Cast is rounded out by reality TV stars Brigitte Yaghi and Ahmed Al Charif, who shot to fame after appearing on Future TV's "Superstar" skein, based on the Pop Idol format, and LBC's "Star Academy" respectively.
"We are bringing our marketing strategies to a new level to meet the consumers' needs and show them our gratitude to their loyalty through new perspectives and a new kind of entertainment," says Sami Awaw, PepsiCo.'s marketing manager for the Levant region. "Our venture into the movie world comes in parallel with our policy to always bring continuous innovation and to enrich our major platform of football and music."
Pic's producers tapped American scribe Declan O'Brien to pen the screenplay in English before translating it into Arabic. Arab helmer Ahmed Hehdi took the directorial reins. Two-month shoot wrapped in Beirut on Oct. 25.
Pic is set to be released around the Mideast in the spring/summer of 2008. Pic's producers are also in talks with distribs in France and the U.K over securing releases there. |

| Wanted in Lebanon: Angelina's lips and Haifa's breasts |
|
BEIRUT (AFP) — Wanted: Angelina Jolie's luscious lips or Lebanese sex bomb Haifa Wehbe's nose or breasts. Clutching pictures of their idols, Arab women are flocking to Lebanon which has become a hub for plastic surgery in the Middle East.

"The boom in plastic surgery started in 2000 in Lebanon, which then became THE destination for 'plastic surgery tourism' in the Middle East," plastic surgeon Tony Nassar, who owns the Brazilian Esthetic Clinics in Beirut, told AFP.
Men and women from oil-rich Arab Gulf states have been coming in droves to fix their noses, lift buttocks and enlarge their breasts in Lebanon, attracted by the reputation of the country's surgeons, its low prices, good weather and buzzing night-life.

"Sixty percent of our clients are Lebanese and 40 percent from the Gulf," said Elias Shammas, owner of the Hazmieh International Medical Centre, which employs an army of no less than 50 plastic surgeons.
There are no official statistics, but industry experts say as many as 1.5 million plastic surgeries are performed annually in Lebanon in addition to 10 million non-surgical operations such as Botox and collagene fillings.
Lebanon's ambition to become the region's plastic surgery hub has however been dampened by a prolonged political crisis and a series of assassinations targeting figures from the ruling majority.

"After the (2005) assassination of former prime minister Rafiq Hariri, our revenues went down by 70 percent," Shammas said. "But we have been rebuilding our client base, and this last August we reached a record of 240 operations in one month."
The most sought after surgeries are nose jobs, liposuctions, face-lifts and breast implants.
"A nose job costs about 2,000 dollars in Lebanon, against 4,000 dollars in London and between 5,000 and 10,000 dollars in the United States," Shammas said.
Clients, ranging from 14 to 75, often ask for operations to make them look like their favourite stars.
"It is rare for a client not to show up with the picture of a star, asking for Angelina Jolie's lips or Haifa's nose and chest," Nassar said.
"For Lebanese woman, being beautiful is a national duty, not a luxury. Women compete with each others, and plastic surgery has ceased to be a taboo subject and become something to brag about," he said.
On Beirut's trendy shopping streets, women stroll along the sidewalks with band-aids covering their nose jobs and sleeveless shirts showing bandages covering recent breast implants.
"If at the age of 65, I can look 50 why deprive myself?" insisted Nadia, an elegantly-dressed Kuwaiti woman who did not wish to reveal her family name.
"A few weeks with a swollen face, and goodbye to wrinkles, bags and double-chins," added Nadia as she examined a computer-generated simulation of her future face.
Shammas said even mothers drag their daughters in to guarantee them a good catch.
"After I performed several operations on a young woman, she got engaged," he said. "Without the surgeries, she would have probably had to wait 30 years before finding a man."
He said winter is a busy time for nose jobs and face-lifts while summer is the hot season for breast enlargements, liposuctions and tummy-tucks.
Shammas said even men are entering the race and now represent three out of 10 clients.
"They mostly ask for hair implants, eye-lid liftings, removal of double-chins and liposuctions, in that order," he said.
In a country suffering an economic crisis, the plastic surgery craze has even prompted Lebanon's First National Bank to offer three-year loans, with a six percent interest rate, for such operations.
"Demand for these loans has increased by about 35 percent since they were launched in May 2007," said Georges Nasser, head of the bank's marketing department.
"The only requirements are for applicants to be over 17 years old, and with a minimum monthly salary of 600 dollars," Nasser said.
He brushed aside critics who say that the search for eternal youth ends up producing clones with similar lips and noses.
"All the women don't become identical," Shammas insisted. "These are allegations made by people who are against plastic surgery."
For 25-year-old Myrna, the choice is simple.
"I would rather we all look like Haifa, than be ugly," she said.

| Sexy Haifa wants a billion dollars for her body |
|

Beirut - Circulating rumors claim that Lebanese singer and seductress Haifa Wehbe is shopping for an insurance policy to "cover her body" from personal injury damage.
Haifa received numerous offers from insurance companies. One company offered coverage of up to one billion dollars. Haifa is reported to be currently reviewing the offers before making a decision.
haifa%20morocco.jpgSources close to Haifa claim the move was prompted by her horrific accident last June. While filming a music video for “Hasa MA Bina Fi Hajeh” (I don’t Feel There I Anything Between Us), Haifa was engaged in a dangerous stunt. A small plane being filmed as part of the video crashed into the convertible she was driving, unloading a massive amount of fuel on the Lebanese sex symbol.
As the plane hit the car, glass to shattered and flew everywhere. Haifa sustained cuts to her head and the Lebanese army had to intervene to save her life.
Since Haifa heavily relies on her hip rocking, boob shaking moves to perform, critical injuries sustained by the accident could have affected her livelihood as a Lebanese sex bomb.

| Dolly Shaheen Controversy |
|
The music industry has been filled with speculations and rumors about Dolly Shaheen and her manager Tamer Abed Al Mineam and the extent of their relationship. Many suspect that these two are having a somewhat intimate affair but Dolly has come out and denied all these allegations. She said that basically her relationship with her manager is strictly professional and that they just get each other which means they get along like a house on fire.

The two have been working together for about two years and so it doesn’t seem like this controversy will lead to Dolly changing managers. If the rumor was true it could lead to a huge anger against Dolly and her inappropriate behavior. However several artists have been accused of sleeping with their managers just because they are good looking and their managers are males! I think its out of order to make such claims unless you have proof which I’m sure no one does.

| Aline Khalaf Is Back! |
|
Aline Khalaf was quite big for a while, however, she disappeared and nobody knew if we would be hearing her beautiful voice again. But I have good news: Aline Khalaf is back with changes in her management and a new video clip for the song ‘Ba’dak Al Bal’ and the video clip is apparently filmed in a new and exciting style.
Aline’s manager said that the video clip should be released within ten days and that him and Aline will be going to Egypt soon with the aim of promoting the new video clip.
They will also be picking the new songs that are to be used for Aline’s next and upcoming album in Egypt. As for which channel will have the ‘exclusive first airing’ of the video clip Aline’s manager said they had offers from three channels and they were still to decide on the best one. A lot of people asked why the long disappearance and Aline’s answer was that she had planned to release the video clip last year. However, with the war in Lebanon Aline decided it may be best to delay her return for a while.

| Nawal Al-Zoghbi in Beverly Hills! |
|
Nawal Al-Zoghbi is currently preparing to travel to the U.S.A for a few concerts for her fans who are living abroad. Her first concert will be at the Beverly Hills Hotel on the 3rd of November and she will be performing to benefit the ‘Lebanese House’. And whilst she’s there Nawal will also be performing another two concerts on the 9th and the 10th of November in Los Angeles.
We are also accustom to seeing Nawal in Eid and she will be recording two concerts one to be aired on Kuwaiti Television and the other to be aired on Al Rai. Nawal also visited Egypt quite recently to finalize the recording of the last songs that will be on her next album. She also took part in a show titled ‘El’ab Ma El Kebar’ so as you can see she is keeping very busy. Nawal seems to be one of those celebrities who disappear for a while and then come back. And when they come back they are everywhere! Will people get sick of her?

| Carole Samaha Begins ‘Bahr El Nujoom’ |
|
Recently when I was visiting Egypt I couldn’t help but notice the numerous Pepsi adverts with ‘Bahr El Nujoom’ all over them and I had no idea what they were for! Well it seems Pepsi is producing a movie titled ‘Bahr El Nujoom’ which will star the famous ‘Nujoom Pepsi’ which include Carole Samaha and Hayfa. Good news is this project is very much underway as Carole Samaha began shooting her scenes from the movie this Monday. I for one do not know the actually story of the movie but with the sheer number of loved and famous singers in it I am sure it will do great.
However, I cannot help but ask : has making a movie become just as easy as making a video clip? I mean recently anyone with money can discover themselves and go out and produce a video clip where they sing and some of them make it big. It seems that now movies are going through the same mutation, however, if this mutation leads to a corruption of Arabic Cinema then this corrupted image will reach the entire world!

| 4 Cats Take It Up A Notch! |
|
Hala Sarhan managed to bring us Maya, Raya Aline and Aliyana, who is replacing Dalida, along with Hany Ramzy in a recent episode of ‘Kanat Khamas Negoom’! As can be expected from the above mentioned guests the show was hilarious to watch and action packed with music and laughs. However, not everyone received this show happily some people were very unpleased. Firstly the flirty attitude that the 4 Cats are known for reached an all time high especially with the presence of Hany Ramzy which made people start questioning whether this flintiness was a mere way of increasing there quite low popularity!
Also Hany Ramzy commented on how Aline was wearing a see through blouse and a necklace and how next time he would like her to come to him wearing only earrings! Obviously this is easily laughed off but the innuendos that were made throughout the episode even got Hala reminding Hany that he has a wife watching him at home! The 4 cats also spoke about Egyptian food and how when they were in Egypt, they had to return to Lebanon without any clothes because nothing fit them anymore!
What do you think: did they cross the line in what they said and did this episode?

| Rola Saad is Haifa’s Neighbour! |
|
The pathetic rivalry between Rola Saad and Haifa Wahbe is no secret and it gets more childish everyday. After Rola decided to move to Egypt she found a real estate agent and told him to find her a house in the specific street where Haifa bought a house two years ago in ‘Masr El Gedeeda’! Rola paid 3 million E.P for the house and it is extremely close to Haifa’s house which means they are literally neighbours.
The house being in this exact area in Egypt was Rola’s only condition to the real estate agent and she paid double the selling price of the house to get it. It’s hard to understand why Rola would want to live near her alleged rival but if you ask me it’s a publicity stunt. The location of the houses means the public is talking about Rola which is good for any celebrity. To be honest sometimes I think that the two are putting on a show to get attention!

| Marwa: Harassment or Love? |
|
Many of you will have heard about the concert where reporters claimed Egyptian fans ‘sexually harassed’ Lebanese singer Marwa and I just thought I’ll give you my two-cents on it! Marwa clearly told Motaz El Demerdash that there was no harassment and that the fans just loved her so much that they wanted to be photographed with her. Marwa even cried and said that she hated how the press translated the fans actions into something disgusting so: Why does the press still insist that she was harassed?
As an Egyptian myself, I think it’s insulting to turn the people of Egypt who have welcomed artists from all nationalities into their country with open arms into perverts! It seems some are so set on the fact she was harassed that they claimed she staged the whole scene pretending to have been touched to gain fame!! If she really wanted some fame why wouldn’t she just fake a car accident like Nancy?! Why sexual harassment?! So I guess what I’m trying to say is let it drop! If the woman says its love then let her enjoy it!

Lebanese star Yara has been chosen to sing the theme song for the movie ‘Ahlam Hakeekeya’ (Real Dreams) which happens to be the last movie Hanan Turk took part in before she decided to wear the hijab. The producer of the movie picked Yara to sing this song which is written by Ahmed Ebrahim and composed by Ameer Toayma. Yara also held a concert recently at Fashion Club House which extended to the early hours of the morning and the audience at the concert were said to enjoy Yara’s top hits which she sang.
Immediately after this highly successful concert Yara traveled to London where she was scheduled to hold another concert. Yara has also extended herself into the world of advertising as she has signed a contract with an unnamed skin care company and she filmed a commercial for them in London which should air very soon all over the Arab world.
We wish Yara all the luck with her upcoming projects and congratulate her on her versatility.

| Yara Making Two Albums At Once |
|
Lebanese singer Yara has told reporters that she is preparing not one but two albums that will be released at the same time. One of these albums takes the color of the gulf music and in it are many collaborations with some of the biggest lyricists and poets in the Gulf world. Yara will be singing in the Egyptian and Lebanese accent in the second album.
This idea of the use of several accents has become quite fashionable after Shams’ album included two CD’s one using the Gulf accent and the other the Egyptian!
Yara recently returned from Egypt after she filmed her new song ‘Betlef El Donya Beena’ which also happens to be the song that will be used for the new movie that Hanan Turk stars in. It is expected that this video clip will air on music channels soon and after it goes through the montage process. Upon her return from Egypt Yara arrived at Dubai where she took part in the large Wanasah TV Channel concert 2 days ago.
